My Best Birthday Yet!

If you read my previous birthday blog, then you already know how much birthdays mean to me. But this one? This one was different. My 50th turned out to be the best birthday I’ve ever had, and honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful way to step into this new decade of my life. It wasn’t just about turning 50… it was about joy, love, laughter, and presence. And oh, I’ve got the visuals to prove it!
I’ve had birthday parties before, of course. But let me tell you! None of them compared to this one. Why? Because this time, all of my loved ones gathered under one roof, just for me. My family, some friends, and even my man (who surprised me with a quick visit after a prior work engagement) took time out of their busy lives to celebrate my birth, and that alone filled my heart with gratitude. We celebrated at Ibis Bar and Lounge in Baltimore City, and the atmosphere was everything. Good vibes, good music, good fried chicken, and the kind of energy you can’t fake.
I laughed until my cheeks hurt. I danced like nobody was watching (and when people were, I danced even harder with money being thrown at me!) I drank — just a little — then I danced some more! It was one of those nights where joy was contagious, where the music carried you away, and where memories were made in every moment. And when it was all over, I slipped away, shed a little tear behind closed doors, and whispered a prayer of thanks. Thankful for the people, the love, and the experience that I know I’ll carry with me forever.
But the celebration didn’t stop there. My “birthday behavior” rolled right into a solo trip to Ocean City, Maryland. This was something special, something just for me. I booked a room with a private balcony overlooking the ocean, and let me tell you, that view alone was therapy. Waking up to the sound of crashing waves, watching the sunrise paint the water in gold, and sipping coffee with the ocean as my background? Pure bliss.
During those four days, I found a peace I didn’t even know I was searching for. I walked the shoreline collecting seashells, let the cool water kiss my feet, and dug my toes deep into the sand like I was rooting myself into the moment. There’s something about the ocean that slows life down, and for the first time in a long time, I gave myself permission to just be. No rushing, no deadlines, no responsibilities… just me and the sea.

Of course, no trip is complete without food. Burgers, fries, pizza, funnel cakes…OH MY! Let’s just say I didn’t exactly stick to a “light” menu. I swear I came back about 15 pounds heavier, but that’s neither here nor there!
Overall, The 3-hour ride there and back felt like nothing compared to the joy, serenity, and laughter that this birthday brought me.
So here I am at 50, stepping into this chapter with a full heart, and memories that will last me a lifetime. If this milestone birthday was any indication of what’s to come, I think my 50s are going to be unforgettable.
